The Fictions collection is Jorge Luis Borges’s most popular anthology of short stories, presented in a Penguin Modern Classics edition translated from Spanish. This volume gathers a dazzling range of fantastical tales that helped redefine world literature with Borges’s signature blend of intellect, imagination and metafiction. Jorge Luis Borges (1899–1986) was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and is regarded as one of the most influential writers of the 20th century. The Penguin edition includes an afterword by Andrew Hurley, and the translation presents Borges’s crystalline prose in a widely acclaimed Modern Classics format.
