Fault Line

Fault Line: The Day the Earth Split: THE GROUND BENEATH US WAS NEVER AS SOLID AS WE BELIEVED.For twenty-six years, geologist Borgis Bastille was the man the scientific world loved to laugh at - the one who insisted humanity could drill to the center of the earth and claim the riches waiting there. Nobody funded ambition like that. Nobody except Bastille himself, who spent eight secret years and a fortune in stolen grant money proving them all wrong. Now the earth is cracking open in places it never should. A quiet English village. A bone-dry Australian outback. A flash flood in a desert that hasn't seen rain in a generation. The world's scientists are baffled - until retired seismologist Austin Bishop is pulled out of his garden and back into a career he thought he'd left behind, and realizes the impossible has already happened: someone has breached the earth's core.Six thousand miles away, Austin's two children are stranded in the middle of it - sheltering through aftershocks in a foreign country, the airport shut down, the ground still shaking. And back home, the clock is running: ten days until the fractures meet and the planet splits in two.As nations scramble to stop the unstoppable, one scientist inside Bastille's operation will risk everything to do what her conscience should have demanded years ago - and Austin will have to decide how far he's willing to go to save his family, and the world, before there's no ground left to stand on.FAULT LINE is a race-against-the-clock thriller about ambition without limits, the people brave enough to say stop, and how far love will carry you when everything else gives way.
