Explaining the world to children with music

The book deals with the limitations and possibilities of music therapy work within the context of a children's home with an educational focus. It explores its possible applications, effects and the scope for networking between art - especially music - education and therapy. The book focuses on music therapy based on the morphologically oriented model developed by the 'Research Group on Morphology and Music Therapy' led by Weymann, Tüpker, Weber and Grootaers, which has proven particularly practical in the specific situation of children's homes. The balancing act between educational and therapeutic thinking within the organisational framework of such a field of work and the flexibility in role behaviour that is essential for this - a permanent shift between figure and background - are placed in a morphological-psychological context. The implementation within the author's work in a child and youth welfare institution over a period of approximately two and a half years is described as a reflection.
