Ernie Botts' War With Love or My High School Romantic Misadventures

Ernie Botts is a high school junior in 1944 who is obsessed with girls, but his romances always seem to end in disaster. Ernie determines that he is going to take the very lovely Samantha, the new girl in school, to the Homecoming Dance. It all looks as if it's going to work out well - that is, until he ends up having to take two girls to the dance - all because he needed another girl's beautiful maroon convertible to impress Samantha. "Crazy" Carly is a pretty girl, but her lively spirit, pranks and schemes are wearing Ernie down. In one of her schemes, she suggests they go swimming on private property... at night... unclothed! Then a simple date one Saturday for a soda ends up with Ernie frantic that he's been an accomplice in a robbery! Olivia is one of the loveliest girls in the junior class. When she shows some interest in Ernie at a committee meeting, he sets his sights on her. However, she is sent home for a few days on suspension - a punishment that was wrongly given to her. Ernie enlists some friends to defend her honor and retaliate against the offending teacher with a prank - a prank that goes terribly awry. Dory and Amy are two seniors who allow Ernie to sit with them at a football game. Ernie becomes smitten with Amy - a bad choice since she's the steady girlfriend of one of the school's biggest football players. At the final football game of the season, Ernie has a chance to kiss the gorgeous Phoebe... in a darkened equipment shed. It's a glorious experience, but it's not exactly what he thought it was.
