This monograph presents a new approach to analysing energy losses and efficiency in hydrostatic drives. It demonstrates that drive motor losses and efficiency should be described as functions of physical quantities independent of losses, particularly the speed and load required by the driven device. These parameters determine useful power and influence the types and values of motor losses. The book challenges conventional interpretations based on Sankey diagrams of power reduction and introduces a new concept of power increase in the motor and drive system, viewed opposite to the direction of power flow. The proposed methodology is illustrated through investigations of energy losses and efficiency of hydrostatic drive components and systems, offering a consistent framework for evaluating their energy performance.
