Emperor Menelik II Great Victory at Adwa

Inspired by my youngest, Emmanuel, I wrote this picture book to introduce young readers to the historic Battle of Adwa and Ethiopia's proud legacy. In daily conversations with my children, I weave stories of Ethiopian heritage and Black history, balancing narratives of struggle often emphasized with tales of strength and triumph. This book, centered on Emperor Menelik II, Empress Taytu, and their fearless war generals, was sparked by Emmanuel's love for comic books and his request for a story he could read himself.Emperor Menelik II's Great Victory at Adwa brings history to life through engaging storytelling, vibrant "Sunsi'il" (Ethiopian origin art form) inspired illustrations by the talented Michael Tesfu, and educational insights.
