Medical imaging plays a central role in the diagnosis and treatment of numerous diseases. While traditional methods such as X-ray and computed tomography (CT) are widely used, there are significant challenges in terms of radiation exposure, cost and limited functionality when imaging soft tissue. Electrical impedance imaging represents a promising alternative or complementary method that enables non-invasive and radiation-free imaging. This thesis analyzes the physical principles, technological developments and application areas of electrical impedance imaging (EII) in comparison to established methods.
