el simio, idiota y los demás: 48

'The Ape, the Idiot, and the Rest' is the ideal gateway to the darker side of W. C. Morrow, a collection of stories that doesn't seek to scare through the supernatural, but to unsettle the reader through twisted logic and meticulous cruelty. Here, the terror doesn't come from impossible creatures, but from human behavior taken to the extreme: obsessions taken too far, revenge carried out with surgical precision, characters who justify pain as if it were a natural experiment. Anyone who picks up the book will find sharp, unadorned prose that turns every scene into a gradual descent toward the inevitable. The most famous story, "His Unconquerable Enemy," remains unsettling even for a modern reader: the violence is suggested with such coldness that the horror arises from the mind rather than from the explicit. This collection encapsulates Morrow's literary identity: a relentless gaze at human fragility and the dark pleasure of watching the everyday shatter. It is a brief but intense read, perfect for those seeking psychological horror that leaves a mark and suspense that operates through the logic of fate rather than through startles.
