Ehlers-Danlos syndrome is a clinical condition that is not well known among dentists, despite the relatively high prevalence of its mildest forms in the general population. This group of disorders, primarily associated with collagen abnormalities, is characterized by numerous problems affecting the skin, joints, and sometimes the internal organs and the cardiovascular system, which can lead to premature death in patients. This condition lies at the intersection of several other syndromes associated with alterations in the collagen or elastic matrix, which often present with identical symptoms of varying severity-a factor that explains the diagnostic challenges these patients may face. This syndrome presents with numerous oral manifestations that the dentist must take into account for the effective management of these patients, but which can also aid in the diagnosis.
