Food in the QuranWhat is the significance of food in the Muslim's life aside from the fact that it is needed in order to live. Without food all die of starvation- a horrible death. With food all live. What else is related to food? Fellowship with friends and families, getting together for occasions of celebrations, in an offspring's achievements, and anniversaries of birthdays and marriages and memorials, in appreciation, in gratitude, in thanksgiving. Food encompasses all, even in religious activities.Yet a question arises when food is used for spiritual advancement, is eating or fasting a truly effective means to glory? Just an indulgence in gluttony for daily nourishment? A foolhardy belief in abstinence for a period to gain God's approval? What says the scriptures?
