Bought it not knowing anything about the author and by golly I'm glad I did. What an amazing story. Earth's First exceeded all my expectations with a convoluted plot, nifty characters and lots of action. The characters are well presented and sympathetic, the ""good guys"" are likable and the villains such as you love to hate. The world constructed is full-bodied and nuanced and the science is absolutely fascinating. The people and characters are very much human, yet superhuman enough to make us go ""wowsers!"" I enjoyed the aliens aspect.
