Drahla Useless Coordinates (CD)

Useless Coordinates is the debut LP by Leeds trio Drahla, released in 2019 on coloured vinyl. Grounded in a stark, dissonant sound, the album fuses art rock and post punk, with jagged guitar work, tense basslines and tightly coiled rhythms that create an atmosphere of nervous energy and abstract intensity. Vocals are delivered in a cool, detached style, pairing cryptic, impressionistic lyrics with a rigid sense of structure that keeps the music feeling both cerebral and confrontational.Across its concise running time, Useless Coordinates explores a palette of angular textures and minimalist repetition rather than conventional hooks, giving the record a dense, almost claustrophobic feel that remains surprisingly accessible. The production emphasizes raw edges and space, allowing the interplay between instruments to drive the momentum and highlighting the band’s focus on mood and tension over polish. As a coloured vinyl LP presentation, the physical release underlines the album’s artful sensibility, framing it as a complete aesthetic statement and marking Useless Coordinates as a distinctive entry in contemporary post punk and art rock.
