Although Dr. John, a six-time Grammy winner and inductee to the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame, is well-known for his genre-hopping gumbo of rock, jazz, blues, and boogie-woogie that is closely associated with his native New Orleans, he took early inspiration from the country & western sounds he heard on the Louisiana Hayride radio program he heard as a child. This album is the fulfillment of a long-held wish to pay tribute to these classic country sounds of his childhood from the perspective of a ma ture artist.
