Double Act

George and Alexandra are the poster couple for incompatibility - a couple who can live neither with nor without one another. The two have been happily divorced for five years when, by chance, they meet again. Inescapably attracted to each other, they find themselves sharing the same bed one illicit afternoon.A second honeymoon takes them on a whirlwind journey through Europe. It begins romantically in the south of France, progresses tolerantly through Italy, and ends vituperatively in the UK. By the time they return home, they are barely on speaking terms. Facing the music takes a poignant turn when Alexandra finds she is pregnant - not by George, but by the husband she left for him.As that very compatible couple, Rodgers and Hammerstein put it: How can love survive?
