Bol In October 1987 in Evansville, Ray Ryan, an Evansville millionaire oilman, was assassinated by car bomb. The crime was never solved but was widely believed to be gang-related. Dogtown reimagines this event and its aftermath: the arrival of a gangster, Mr. Valentin, from "back east," his attempt to make Evansville his version of Chicago, and his pursuit by James Clevinger of the Evansville PD, who is assisted by a couple of unlikely characters, including Lew Trier, a down-and-out veteran of the first world war, who is notable for his visions of future events, and "Mac" McCool, who carries the memory of returning home at age twelve and finding his father dead in the kitchen, having solved his drinking problem with a shotgun.
