Dogleg

When Cole's father dies, he is left with his grief and one impossible request: scatter the ashes on the seventeenth hole of one of Kauai's most exclusive golf courses. Unable to face it alone, Cole recruits his old friend Hayes for a "vacation," concealing the true motive for the impromptu trip. Beneath the mask of tropical serenity, the trip spirals into a collision of lives already fraying at the edges. Hayes is quietly unraveling under the weight of a failing marriage and the shadow of infertility while his wife, Tara, is haunted by a comedy career she was too afraid to chase. Tara's brother Leonard, dazzled by his musician girlfriend Alice, is drowning in his own chaos-being blackmailed by the porn stars who've turned his home into a film set. Alice weaponizes her own self-loathing into fuel as she fights to break free from crippling writer's block. Set against the lush landscape of Hawaii, Dogleg is a darkly funny, deeply human novel about grief, secrets, and the messy ways friends come together when things fall apart.
