Beschrijving
The first comprehensive monograph on the cross-disciplinary practice of Diller Scofidio + Renfro (DS+R) presents more than 100 built and ephemeral works from the New York–based studio. Since its founding in 1981, DS+R has shaped civic spaces, cultural institutions, urban design, installation art, performance, digital media, and print. The book highlights projects from the High Line in New York to the V&A East Storehouse in London, including early works like the Blur building for the 2002 Swiss Expo. Designed as a pair of structurally conjoined volumes, the binding allows reading each volume separately or in parallel by unfolding at the spine, with crossover layouts linking both volumes around shared obsessions. The monograph features layouts by 2x4, photography by Iwan Baan and Matthew Monteith, and new dialogues with visionaries from other creative fields.
Since its publication, the work has been recognized for its design and scope, bringing together architecture, urban design, installation art, performance, digital media, and print. The publication complements DS+R’s long-standing experimental approach to space-making, inviting readers to bridge different modes of production and reconsider the limits of architecture.
