Jean is the big boss of the Group, a large multinational, listed on the European stock exchange. Basically, his job is to encourage and supervise the competing egos of the top executives who work for him while fighting off boredom. When pressurized into showing a little political correctness by hiring a woman onto his executive committee, little does he realize his world is about to change. When he meets 17-year-old Angélique, a strange girl, his curiosity leads him to get to know her better. Although he spent his life avoiding sentimental attachment, she succeeds in awakening his feelings. His son's accident is the final blow to his seemingly happy family trio and is the catalyst for Jean to begin to show his true personality and at last confront his past and rethink his future. Each protagonist in this debut novel questions the meaning of life in a unique way and in relation to his age (adolescence, adulthood and maturity). The Group itself is a living character, portraying the life of a professional microcosm, complete with its individual anxieties and collective archetypes. After working in the human resource section of a large group, Isabelle Siac obtained her masters in clinical psychology. Today she is a practicing psychologist and psychotherapist. Des Ambitieux is her first novel.
