I lived a life. It was probably a lot like yours. Love and loss. Struggle and joy. Young to old. Nothing special. Just a life. And time, as it does with all of us, eventually caught me. When my end came, I didn't wonder what there was after death. I didn't consider the great beyond. I was old and sick and tired. I was ready. But I should have wondered. I should have considered. Because death was not my end, and I was anything but ready. There is a realm outside the universe where an ancient order of immortals watches over the worlds and their inhabitants, many of whom live in ignorance of their magical protectors. For untold years, fae, human, and demon have worked side by side to keep peace, order, and balance. But the protectors are fighting another battle they can not see. One against themselves. One they are losing. Now they stand on the brink of succumbing to their own weakness and dooming themselves and the ones they swore to guard, and a confused mortal who only wanted to die in peace is their only hope to survive.
