Crimson Empire: Echoes on the Moor

In December 1745, Charles Edward Stuart, the "Bonnie Prince," abandons his invasion of England. Come spring, with the support of Highland allies and promised French reinforcements, Charles vows to fulfil the decades long Jacobite cause of restoring the Crown to the House of Stuart. Despite the onset of winter, William Augustus, Duke of Cumberland, grants Charles no reprieve. Sullied by previous defeats and misfortunes, Cumberland vows to shatter the very soul of Jacobitism. He promises to "give receipt in full" for the slaughter of British soldiers at Prestonpans, and the atrocities committed against English citizens during the Jacobite retreat into Scotland. On the distant moor of Culloden, the Houses of Stuart and Hanover engage in one last blood-soaked battle for the Crowns of England and Scotland. Combatants and innocents alike will suffer unimaginable cruelties, no matter who triumphs. Thus, the scars of The Forty-Five run deep to this day.
