Crack The Skye (Deluxe Edition)

'Crack the Skye': zo heet de vierde van Mastodon. Bijna drie jaar na het verschijnen van het fenomenale 'Blood Mountain' komt de heavy metal band terug. 'Crack the Skye' telt zeven nummers over in totaal vijftig minuten muziek. Opvallend zijn de epische lengtes van The Last Baron en het vierdelige The Czar. Bij het album zit bovendien ook een dvd waarop de band op elke track commentaar geeft.Over het album vertelt zanger/bassist Troy Sanders in een interview:"Crack The Skye is a departure from everything we've previously recorded in the sense that we kinda strapped on our aeroshells and departed from Earth for a while, and then captained to the ethereal element of the universe and kind of slept on the roof of the world for a while to get a perspective on this record. ... Basically we're exploring the ethereal world. We're dissecting the dark matter that dominates the universe, in a nutshell."
