While the pulmonary manifestations of COVID-19 initially dominated attention, it quickly became apparent that SARS-CoV-2 was capable of affecting multiple systems, particularly the gastrointestinal tract and the liver.Gastrointestinal and hepatic involvement, due to their frequency and prognostic significance, represent a major clinical challenge. They may be the initial presentation of the disease, alter isolation protocols, and influence therapeutic management. A lack of understanding of these complications leads to diagnostic delays, increased risk of infection among healthcare workers, and suboptimal patient care.This book, based on a review of the literature published in 2020, aims to provide an overview of the epidemiological, clinical, pathophysiological, and prognostic aspects of gastrointestinal and hepatic complications in COVID-19.
