Courting an Autumn Hoyden: 12

When two society outsiders come together, the resulting scandal might be exactly what they need. Captain Laurence Danbury has fallen on hard times. As the newly minted Baron of Wendlesham, when he came home from the war a few years ago, he thought his path in life was already set. Instead, disaster and misfortune met him, one after the other, until he was eventually left without a house, coin in the coffers, or even any prospects. Surely, his luck had to change, and soon. Miss Rose Landry tumbled headlong from grace in society years ago. In her second Season, she was hailed as a Diamond of the First Water, the perfect English rose. During her fifth Season, she made a brilliant match, with the heir to an earldom, but then scandal broke, and she was banned into the country, shamed out of London. Now she lives life with the consequences of her actions, which was difficult at times. One chilly afternoon, Laurence collapses in a barn, delirious from a fever. When Rose discovers him that evening while doing nightly chores, she brings him into her cottage to nurse him back to health. Once he's well enough, an intense attraction springs between them, yet a romance between these two very different people is not only impossible but forbidden. Can a man used to order, honor, and determination manage to win the heart of a ruined, autumn hoyden? Only they can decide if they wish to walk that road together despite the odds.
