Conservative mobilization against progressive gender equality policies: Second Edition

The book gives an overview of the recent attacks on the notion of gender and progressive notions such as gender and marriage equality, sexual and reproductive rights and sexual education by the massive conservative mobilization in the countries in Central and Eastern Europe. As a starting point are taken the different theories of gender such as gender as a social construction and gender as a performativity. On the other hand, the book gave an overview of the recent intentional misinterpretation of the notion of gender as a global conspiracy. The main goal is the shift of the paradigm and thus the imposition of illiberal democracy. The rightists offered a new alternative and protection to the 'losers' from the processes of transition and globalization. The situation in countries in Central and Eastern Europe is presented as a fight for the salvation of the nation.
