This book is the second volume in a series of groundbreaking work that establishes both theoretical and policy-based foundation for civil-military partnership in complex emergency. This book begins with the theoretical interdependencies of durable peace and sustainable development as key aspect in legitimizing civil-military partnerships in these times of multiple crisis. It then draws from selected global policies in shedding light on civil-military partnership as a capacity development initiative in times of multiple crisis. It further argues that complex emergency is a rapid response system that characterizes interactions between military and civil organization as a new complex organization. The last chapter situates the concept of civil-military partnership in complex emergency within the communities of practice as evident during the COVID-19 pandemic. In stimulating scholarly debate this book concludes with some major observations and recommendations for future research.
