He just stopped to be a Good Samaritan and help someone with a broken shopping bag. The surging crowds on the platform were almost trampling the woman, and she was in danger of losing her groceries. He didn't even notice how beautiful she was until afterwards, and when she invited him for a drink, it seemed churlish to turn her down - after all, she only wanted to thank him......
