Bol A well-behaved child, Yuka lives a simple, boring life in Tokyo in the sixties. Although the Japanese economy is booming, traditional, anti-individualist mentality prevails. Yuki is a model student but finds her world frustrating and dull and longs for the passion and intensity she imagines in the West. Psychologically distant from her family during adolescence, she discovers sex and the thrills of transgression and revolts against society by becoming anorexic. Then Yuka leaves Japan to study in France for a year and the discovery of the free spirit and sensual pleasures of French culture is a turning point in Yuka's life, pulling her out of depression and into a new life.
