Chaplains Collective At Wheaton College: A Manual for Chaplaincy Students

Chaplain, you don't have to save everybody. You don't have to fix everybody. You don't have to have an answer for everything. You don't have to prove that you are a great chaplain. Jesus is the Savior. The Holy Spirit is the power. The Gospel is the message. The college is part of God's mission field. And you are His servant. Never reverse those roles. One of the beautiful gifts of Wheaton College is that God brings people here from many places-different cultures, denominations, countries, traditions, experiences, economic backgrounds, ways of worshiping, and ways of seeing the world. Learn to love them. The Gospel is bigger than our tribe. Know who you are. Honor where you come from. Be authentic. But learn to love the whole Body of Christ. Christian community does not require everyone to become the same. It requires all of us to surrender ourselves to Jesus Christ. A good chaplain must learn how to walk into an unfamiliar room and still recognize brothers and sisters. This manual will telll you all you need to know about our ministry. Read it to learn, believe it to grow.
