Captain Space Jam and Jelly

When Elliot T. Zippenoff a.k.a. Captain Space Jam doesn't get what he really wants for his birthday. He builds it himself, a rocket ship to blast him and his trusted co-pilot (his dog) into outer space. They explore the universe together. Layered with information about the planets, and what is up there, they land safely back home.
