Bury Me in Appalachia

In Brandon Sites sophomore collection, It's Not Supposed to Make Sense. It's Madness. Volume II, Sites heads home to the foothills of Appalachia to explore his past, turning outwards to the working-class communities that raised him, honoring mill workers, veterans, bartenders, truck drivers, retail workers and those simply trying to earn an honest living and provide for their families. Through accessible, narrative-driven poetry, Sites captures a way of life often overlooked as his hometown of Chillicothe grapples with economic stagnation and the lingering shadow of the opioid epidemic. The collection of poems explore the tension between staying in your hometown and building a life or leaving it behind in search of something new. A love letter to his past, Volume II captures the rhythms of small-town life and the enduring pull of the place he called home.
