The city of Bukavu was built to accommodate approximately 100,000 residents. Currently, it has a population of over 1.5 million. With repeated wars, the population has grown, but the infrastructure needed to support it has not kept pace. There are now homes in dangerous locations, putting the lives of many people at risk. Some residents who have a little space are doing everything they can to build houses to rent out. With demand exceeding supply, rent prices keep rising without any regulation. In light of all these challenges, it is time to rethink the city of Bukavu.
