The city of Bukavu was built to accommodate approximately 100,000 residents. Currently, it has a population of over 1.5 million. With repeated wars, the population has grown, but the infrastructure needed to support it has not kept pace. There are now homes in dangerous locations, putting the lives of many people at risk.
