Blood made him. Blood will cost him everything.Brighton Beach, 2005. The Russian-Jewish underworld runs South Brooklyn on one unbreakable rule: nobody saw a thing. So when the head of the Gutman crime family and his eldest son are gunned down on the same gray morning, the police fill their notebooks with silence - and the only heir left is the one who walked away years ago.Aleksey Gutman built a clean life three thousand miles from Brooklyn. One phone call brings him home. To bury his father. To take up the business he spent five years trying to escape. And to settle a debt that can only be paid in blood. But stepping back into the life means becoming something colder than the man who left - an operator always three moves ahead, who lets others do his killing, who trusts no one and forgets nothing. As war ignites in the streets and the law closes in around the family, Aleksey climbs toward the top of an organization that devours its own.Every move costs him something. The only question is how much he is willing to pay.Cold, propulsive, and steeped in the immigrant underworld of Brighton Beach, BROTHERHOOD is a crime saga of family, loyalty, reinvention, and vengeance - the explosive first novel in the Gutman family series.
