Brinley and The Hidden Colors of Time: Timekeepers Classroom

Some changes in history are loud. Others begin with a single streak of color. Brinley notices things other people miss; the shade of a ribbon, the pattern hidden inside a picture, the way colors can make an old story suddenly feel alive. So, when a mysterious blue ribbon appears in an illustration at Bellwether Academy, Brinley knows something has changed. The Meridian Compass is turning again. Soon Brinley is swept through time to Harlem during the extraordinary artistic awakening of the Harlem Renaissance. Surrounded by painters, writers, music, and ideas, she discovers a mural whose most important details are in danger of being lost. But saving the artwork will require more than protecting paint on a wall. Brinley must learn to see the stories hidden beneath the surface and understand that history may survive while part of its meaning disappears. As blue and gold begin revealing a mysterious pattern, Brinley realizes the Compass may be guiding the children toward something much larger than any single journey. A time-travel adventure about courage, creativity, friendship, memory, and the importance of preserving the stories history leaves behind. The Harlem Renaissance setting is grounded in the manuscript's historical note, which places Brinley's journey in 1920s Harlem and specifically connects the story to the era's art, literature, music, symbolism, identity, and visual storytelling.
