Brazilian and Portuguese newspapers

Taking as its starting point a review of the literature produced by various classic, English-speaking authors on the news production process; this study, insofar as it compares the news production process of two Portuguese newspapers, 'Diário de Notícias' and 'Público', with two Brazilian newspapers, 'O Estado de São Paulo' and 'Folha de São Paulo', provides relevant data for comparative studies within the Portuguese-speaking world. To discover, therefore, how certain Portuguese and Brazilian newspapers operate is to uncover the differences and similarities between the journalism produced in Brazil and Portugal, and thus to be able to identify potential problems and/or envisage possible solutions. Consequently, this book is intended not only for students and professionals in the field, but for all members of the public sphere who hold public opinions and who, in so-called democratic societies, have their views shaped by the media.
