Black Widow

Peter Duluth's wife is out of town visiting her mother. Which is how he meets Nanny Ordway. She's a guest at his upstairs neighbors' party. Peter, the sophisticated theatrical producer, is intrigued by this young, innocent guest, who says she wants to be a writer. He offers to take her to dinner. While his wife is away, he takes her out to a play, lets her use his apartment to write in the mornings while he's at work. It's all so... innocent.Peter doesn't see the trap he is walking into. Because Nanny is not quite what she seems. She is a spider spinning a web around him that, by the time he is aware of it, is too late to extricate himself from. Why does no one realize that he's not a seducer, that his relationship with Nanny is strictly that of a friend? But no-this web is spun tight.Film Noir Classic #17
