This book deals with bioinorganic chemistry in five chapters. The first presents the role of inorganic elements in biological systems and the design of bioactive molecules. The second focuses on peptide deformylase inhibitors, highlighting the work of Isabelle Artaud. The third chapter explores sulfur donors and their biological importance, with an analysis of Ms. Artaud's contributions. The fourth chapter deals with the application of X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) to study metal complexes, while the fifth discusses recent challenges and innovations in bioinorganic chemistry.Dedicated to: I dedicate this work to Ms. Isabelle Artaud, my former professor of bioinorganics, whose teaching in 1993 profoundly influenced my understanding of this discipline and who has been a source of inspiration throughout my research career.
