Beyond His Mercy

Dr. Lena Ortiz has spent her career treating the people Continuity Nine considers useful enough to save. Then security drags an injured surface scout into her isolation room, and the evidence in Jonah Vale's blood threatens everything Medical taught her to believe. Jonah came to the mountain for stolen Clearblood prisoners, not mercy. He expects another locked door, another experiment, and another doctor who values answers more than consent. Lena refuses to become that doctor, even when Jonah's failing lungs make every choice urgent. Their search carries them beyond the breach, through glass storms, ruined roads, and a settlement where medicine belongs to the people who need it. Desire grows where trust should be impossible, but the conspiracy behind Jonah's scars reaches back into Lena's own work. To build a clinic without cages, she must expose what she helped create. To love her, Jonah must risk believing that care can be offered without a chain attached.
