Beyond Grandeur

From Anxiety Press"Most short stories are awful, and most blurbs lie. Matthew Kinlin's Beyond Grandeur & Other Stories demands panegyrics. Macabre and riveting, these are elemental tales of lust, obsession, and violence. With vivid-oftentimes broken and amoral-characters, decadent settings, and strange scenarios, all conjured with luscious prose, Kinlin achieves a perfect balance between atmosphere and action, psychology and spectacle, opium and speed. Fans of the Brothers Grimm, Poe, Wilde, Huysmans, Moshfegh, and/or John Waters will find a lot to love. These are page-turners that read like classics. Kinlin is a master of the form."- Logan Berry, author of Doom is the House Without a Door"Kinlin's fictions radiate with bruised sensuality. A collection that transports in heady grace, the stories contained within take hold like the sweetest of intoxicants. Gutter benedictions, whispered from a dreamworld."- Rebecca Gransden, author of Sea of Glass"Matthew Kinlin's acid bath fables are koanlike in their intense repudiation of the real, yet an inquisitive, occult humanity simmers beneath the surface."- James Nulick, author of Plastic Soul
