Before the Galaxy Existed: How James Webb Space Telescope Found Black Holes That Formed Galaxies Around Them: 1

Recommended descriptionWhat if the black hole came before the galaxy? For decades, astronomers believed galaxies came first. Stars formed inside them, massive stars died, black holes grew from those stellar remnants, and eventually some became the supermassive giants found at the centers of galaxies. Then the James Webb Space Telescope looked deeper into the early universe-and the story became much stranger. Before the Galaxy Existed explores one of the most surprising developments in modern astronomy: evidence that some enormous black holes may have existed before the galaxies surrounding them had fully formed. From Webb's discovery of the mysterious Little Red Dots to the extraordinary object Abell2744-QSO1, this book follows the observations that are forcing scientists to reconsider how the first black holes and galaxies formed.Inside, you'll explore: - How the James Webb Space Telescope was designed to see the earliest universe- Why the mysterious Little Red Dots surprised astronomers- How scientists measured an ancient black hole roughly 50 million times the mass of the Sun- Why Abell2744-QSO1 appears to have a black hole dominating a barely formed galaxy- The competing theories behind the formation of the first massive black holes- Direct-collapse black holes and primordial black holes- What these discoveries could mean for galaxy formation and cosmology- The unanswered questions Webb and future observatories still need to solveThe science is still developing. The evidence does not give us every answer-but it has opened a remarkable new chapter in our understanding of the universe. Before the Galaxy Existed is an accessible journey into the frontier of modern astronomy, where the oldest light in the cosmos is revealing a universe that may have worked very differently from what scientists once expected. The manuscript itself emphasizes that the science remains an active area of investigation and that the discovery raises important unanswered questions.
