Shaz Tamkanat is one of the renowned poets of Hyderabad Deccan. The bridge built by Shaz Tamkanat between traditional and modern poetry is itself a mirror of an era. While the sorrows of his personal life are evident in his ghazals and poems, his sorrow is revealed as a general experience of the times. Shaz Tamkanat has not tied the traditional themes of ghazals and does not even use traditional metaphors with traditional connotations.
