Since the 1950s, bats (Microchiroptera) have been suffering from the destruction of their habitats. Owing to the use of pesticides, habitat destruction and increased road traffic, by 1980 the population of native Microchiroptera was only around 5-10 per cent of its original size. In recent years, with the onset of the energy transition, a further threat to bats has emerged: fatalities at wind turbines. Extensive studies are a prerequisite for the effective protection of these animals. For this reason, this study investigated the relationship between abiotic parameters - in particular temperature - and bat activity in the rotor area of wind turbines, and presented the frequency distribution of bat activity during the study period.
