Bol The year is 1556. A young Venetian by the name of Michele Antonio de Donato arrives in Portugal seeking a ship and crew bound for the Spice Islands half way around the world. His mission is to return with a cargo of pepper, nutmeg and cloves that would reverse his family's decline from a once prosperous merchant family, a decline brought about two generations earlier by the Portuguese discovery of the sea-route to the East. After much hardship and death, his ship and crew finally arrive in the Banda Sea, the source of much of the world's spices. However, what they found instead was much more than they bargained for.
