A note about this, my third book, and the process of its creation. I have recently found myself standing more firmly at the threshold between the seen and the unseen. A poem announces itself with a feeling, an intuition, or maybe a first line. Then it's as if I'm peering into a dark room lit by a solitary candle, and describing what slowly emerges from the dark. There is no prior plan or narrative: I simply transcribe what I see or sense. There is a feeling of being seized, compelled, commanded. It is irresistible.
