It began with the disaster of September 11, 2001 and the globalization of the state of emergency, followed by the outbreak of wars whose tails we are still dragging until now. Based on this, the culture of nonviolence today seems more urgent than ever. This is what Syrian researcher and activist Haytham Manna calls for in his new book 'Atlas of Nonviolence,' in which he recalls the most famous figures and symbols of the nonviolent movement in the world, documenting their contexts across different times and places. As one of the most prominent faces of the Syrian opposition in its early peaceful years, Manna deconstructs the logic of resorting to violence and its terrible human, national, and humanitarian consequences, especially in Syria due to its long war, while presenting the culture of nonviolence not just as a moral thesis, but perhaps as the first and only option for the salvation of humanity.
