This is an exploration of images of Australian suburbia, from the turn-of-the-century works of Arthur Streeton and Frederick McCubbin, through the modernist suburban reveries of Clarice Beckett in the 1930s and the surreal War-time streetscapes of Albert Tucker, to the artists of today. Artists' images are juxtaposed with visual material documenting the growth of suburbia and the marketing of its central icon, the Dream Home. Images from over 30 Australian artists are reproduced, many of them in colour.
