He and the formidable female android Fenris were part of a team that discovered a mysterious citadel left behind by an alien race. In the course of investigating it, something went wrong, and Griffin had to sacrifice the souls of their colleagues to save Sphinx and Fenris from a primeval, demonic force. Fearing Neroy would go mad from the experience, Griffin sealed off his memories until such time as he felt Sphinx was ready to deal with them.Ten years later, Neroy is hopping from one planet to another, as his elusive memories begin to resurface. Meanwhile, various star systems have reported brutal alien incursions threatening the entirety of interstellar civilization. Griffin believes that somewhere in Neroy's buried memories is the solution to thwarting the ancient horror they re-awakened.
