Almost Compatible

Alex Mercer never meant for Code of Love to change Jefferson High. What starts as a private compatibility app designed to help students better understand relationships quickly turns into a school-wide obsession with emotional honesty, anonymous confessions, and impossible expectations. Suddenly, friendships fracture over percentages, couples question everything, and students begin trusting algorithms more than each other. For Alex, the project becomes even more dangerous when it pulls him closer to Olivia Carter - the girl he's spent six years quietly trying not to embarrass himself around - while also forcing him to confront the confident, socially effortless world of Ethan Cole, someone who seems naturally built for the life Alex only knows how to observe from a distance. As Code of Love spreads through Jefferson High, the line between understanding people and measuring them begins to disappear. And when senior prom ends in public disaster, shattered friendships, and one catastrophic decision that changes everything, Alex is forced to confront a truth no algorithm can solve: Maybe being understood by someone isn't the same thing as being chosen by them.Funny, heartfelt, and painfully honest, Almost Compatible is a coming-of-age story about loneliness, vulnerability, identity, and the terrifying risk of letting someone see the real version of you.
