Age of The Warrior: Dawn Sparta

It's a critical time for Sparta. The nation that underwent a long period of reconstruction only centuries ago now rises, but faces eminent threats just beyond it's mountains. Their ways differ from other Greek cities since everything depends on creating elite soldiers above anything else. Boys are required to join the agoge at the age of seven and must become what their city expects of them or else they are exiled. A young man named Cleomenes is only years away from graduating the agoge. He will be tested to see if he is suitable to become a soldier that the Sparta army looks for. However, things won't be easy, since his instructor, a man named Magnus, is not only ruthless and strict but he makes it difficult for Cleomenes to progress out of all the other students in the group. Some will join the army and others will be forced to leave their city of birth. Cleomenes must face all odds if he is to finally exit the agoge and become a citizen, or Sparta will have no use for him. The only support he has is his friend Georgios who is in the same situation. They encourage one another through challenging times as their last years in training will be their most grueling. Their society grows but so does the dangers that occur beyond their lands as an evil force is at work. Because of this, Sparta is highly selective on who is the best fit soldiers to join it's perfected army. If Cleomenes can progress, then his life in the army begins. If he cannot, then it's something that every Spartan dreads, which is being denied what they trained to become all their lives. Unfortunately troubles arise every step of the way, but if Cleomenes can find hope and maintain his faith in the gods, then it just may guide him through the harshest of times. Age of the Warrior: The Dawn of Sparta is a novel of historical fiction, a story that brings to life the Spartan Ethos, their relationship to the gods, and the changes made to rebuild their society into one of the most respected and feared military forces in antiquity.
