Achyut¿shtakam is a simple yet wonderful hymn of eight stanzas comprising the names of lord Vishnu with main emphasis on his incarnations R¿ma and Krishna. This easy to sing hymn of wonderful metre was composed by ¿ch¿rya Shankara Bhagavadp¿da. The names indicate various divine qualities of lord Vishnu and glorify his great deeds. ¿ch¿rya shankara bhagavadp¿da compiles a collection of names of lord Vishnu containing deep meaning in them and remind us of the great pastimes of the lord narrated in the pur¿nas. They also remind us the beauty of his forms and help us visualize and contemplate on him. This book is an effort to put light of meaning of each name from this hymn and also narrate in short the incidents the names indicate or relate to. The names in this hymn are compiled from Vedas, pur¿nas, Upanishads, Vishnu sahasran¿ma and mantra sh¿stras. Some of the names are repeated more than one time. When it comes to praising the lord's name repetition is not seen as an error.
