Bol This is a memoir of four decades in the American media business. The author, Harry Fuller, began work as a messenger for a San Francisco TV station's news department in 1969. Before he retired Fuller would produce newscasts, manage daily coverage for an entire news department, be news director at two network-affiliated stations, become general manager at KPIX, a CBS station. That's where he'd begun work decades earlier, before many job changes. During his career Fuller led the KGO-TV news department as it covered the 1989 Loma Prieta quake live for many hours. The station won a Peabody Award. Fuller would put reporter Paul Wynne on air in 1999. Wynne was the first man on Earth to face the camera and describe what it was like to be dying of AIDS. He drew global attention. Later, at KPIX in the mid-90s, Fuller led the station in producing one of the earliest TV-linked websites, put up a live camera before "webcam" was a thing. He later went to work with two digital media start-ups, helping pioneer streamed video and audio before 2000. Early on, he publicly warned that broadcasting was doomed if it didn't dominate new media.
